More Big British Brother

Big Brother is WatchingWell, the UK’s done it again.  Since cameras on every corner in London weren’t enough of an invasion of privacy, now the police want them in private businesses:

Islington is one of the most densely populated districts for licensed premises in London and the borough’s licensing authority is committed to providing a safe environment in which to socialise.

To this end, Islington police recommend all premises are required to install CCTV and make those images available to police upon request before a licence is granted.

Does everyone in England need a nanny watching them all the time?  Granted, it seems like these CCTV systems will be disconnected from the main one, but there’s no reason they can’t decide to hook them together down the road.  I’ll make sure to wear my hoodie in protest the next time I’m there.
