Thanks for that dissertation of this issue. You nailed it. Perhaps better than any other blogger I have read. I am anti-open border and have been called a racist and anti-immigration for that stance. Yet, I am married to a foreigner (legal resident). HMMMMM

Like Louie, I my wife is my "Cholita" from 10,500 feet in the Andes. It is nifty having a Latina by my side. It permits me to say some true things that others cannot say about illegals from south of our borders. And here is the really fun thing – I usually get a big "amen" from our many Latino friends. It is the legal Latinos that suffer the most from the invasion. They lose their jobs to those willing to be paid under the table. They live with the fear that they could be mistakenly deported. And they suffer the crude remarks from those who have limited abilities to express their concerns.

I agree with your assessment that Dr. Paul is not racist or anti-semitic. For him to be so would make no sense. The last few months I have read many of Ron Paul’s writings, and there is nothing to indicate such a charge. In fact, for him to be anti-semitic or racist would be contrary to everthing he has written and contrary to the way he has voted in the U.S. Congress. His political philosphy is that the government should protect the Individual’s rights and freedoms — not dictate or control a person’s life. As such, the respect Dr. Paul has for people as individuals, he also extends to nations by recognizing each nation’s sovereignty. If only more of our leaders had this same wisdom.

This is an excellent posting re Ron Paul’s alleged racism. It even managed to make me laugh. Turning things around by talking about what excellent marksman white, senior citizens are struck the perfect chord.
