Sad state of domain squatting

June 25th, 2007

Well, I figured that someone out there must have created a repository of code examples, so the first thing I tried was CodeExamples.org. And, not amazingly, it’s beed squatted. Oh great – thanks for wasting that name. Let’s try .com. .net? Well, they’re all completely worthless. .info hasn’t beed squatted (yet). There should be some policy against buying domains for no other reason than squatting. This is ridiculous.

It is, but maybe they’ve got some projects in the pipe-line. I buy domains knowing I’d want to do something with it later.

Domains are like properties. People buy it hoping the value of it will eventually go up. Can’t blame them for it. Though perhaps a higher registration fee will help to curb excessive domain purchasing.

Yep, I buy domains with a future purpose all the time. Sometimes that purpose doesn’t come to fruition. CodeExamples is quite a good name, so i’m not surprised it’s gone.
